‘धनुष’ची यशस्वी चाचणी :

• आण्विक क्षमता असलेल्या ‘धनुष’ या क्षेपणास्त्राची भारताने (गुरुवार) ओडिशा राज्यातील किनारपट्टीवर यशस्वी चाचणी घेतली.
• संरक्षण संशोधन आणि विकास संस्थेतर्फे (डीआरडीओ) साडेतीनशे किमीचा पल्ला असलेल्या या क्षेपणास्त्राची समुद्रामध्ये यशस्वी चाचणी घेण्यात आल्याचे स्पष्ट करण्यात आले.
• धनुष या क्षेपणास्त्राची 500 किलोचा अणुबॉंब वाहून नेण्याची क्षमता आहे.
• धनुषच्या सहाय्याने समुद्रातील वा जमिनीवरील लक्ष्यांचा भेद करता येणे शक्‍य आहे.
• लष्करामध्ये धनुष या  क्षेपणास्त्राचा समावेश याआधीच करण्यात आला आहे.
• पृथ्वी-2 या क्षेपणास्त्राची नौदलासाठी तयार करण्यात आलेली धनुष ही आवृत्ती आहे.
• धनुष हे डीआरडीओच्या जगप्रसिद्ध क्षेपणास्त्र विकास कार्यक्रमांतर्गत विकसित करण्यात आलेल्या पाच क्षेपणास्त्रांपैकी एक क्षेपणास्त्र आहे.

मंगळावर आढळला प्रचंड पाण्याचा साठा :

• अमेरिकेची अवकाश संशोधन संस्था असलेल्या नासाच्या शास्त्रज्ञांना मंगळ ग्रहावर गोठलेल्या स्थितीतील पाण्याचा प्रचंड साठा असल्याचे आढळून आले आहे.
• 150 अब्ज क्‍युबिक मीटर इतका प्रचंड पाण्याचा साठा मंगल ग्रहावर आढळून आला आहे.
• या पाण्याने संपूर्ण ग्रह हिमाच्छादित केला जाऊ शकेल, असे शास्त्रज्ञांनी म्हटले आहे.
• धुळीच्या दाट आवरणामुळे या साठ्याचे संरक्षण होत आहे असे शास्त्रज्ञांनी म्हटले आहे.
• मंगळावरील अतितप्त वातावरणात पाण्याची सहजी वाफ होते. मात्र या साठ्याचे त्यापासून संरक्षण झाले आहे. या पार्श्‍वभूमीवर शास्त्रज्ञांचे हे संशोधन अत्यंत महत्त्वपूर्ण मानले जात आहे.

नसीन झैदी यांची नवे मुख्य निवडणूक आयुक्तपदी नियुक्तीची घोषणा :

• राष्ट्रपती प्रणव मुखर्जी यांनी निवडणूक आयुक्त नसीम झैदी यांची गुरुवार भारताचे नवे मुख्य निवडणूक आयुक्तपदी नियुक्तीची घोषणा केली.
• नसीन झैदी 19 एप्रिलपासून आपला पदभार स्वीकारणार आहेत.
• निवडणूक आयोगाचे विद्यमान मुख्य आयुक्त एच. एस. ब्रह्मा हे 19 एप्रिलला निवृत्त होत असल्यामुळे झैदी यांची या पदासाठी नियुक्ती करण्यात आली.
• 1976 च्या बॅचचे आयएएस अधिकारी असणारे झैदी हे अनेक वर्षे नागरी विमान उड्‌डाण मंत्रालयात कार्यरत होते.

पंतप्रधानांच्या हस्ते मुद्रा बँकेचे अनावरण :

• पंतप्रधान नरेंद्र मोदींनी अवकाळी पावसाचा फटका बसलेल्या आणि गारपीटग्रस्त शेतकऱयांना जास्तीत जास्त मदतीचे आश्वासन देत बुधवारी मुद्रा बँकेचे अनावरण केले.
• मोदींनी गारपीटग्रस्त शेतकऱयांची परिस्थिती लक्षात घेऊन त्यांना दिलेल्या कर्जाची पुर्नरचना करण्याचे बँकांना सुचवले.
• तसेच विमा कंपन्यांनाही पुढाकार घेऊन शेतकऱयांच्या  मागण्यांची पुर्तता करण्यास सांगितले.
• शेतकऱयांना बँकेकडून मिळाणाऱया मदतीत आता वाढ करण्यात आली आहे.
• मोदींनी दुष्काळग्रस्त शेतकऱयाला मिळणाऱया भरपाईत दीडपटीने वाढ करण्यात आल्याची घोषणा यावेळी केली तसेच 33 टक्क्यांपेक्षा जास्त नुकसान झालेले शेतकरी भरपाईसाठी पात्र आसतील असेही संगितले. यापूर्वी ही मर्यादा 50 टक्के होती.
• मुद्रा बँकेच्या उदघाटन मोदींच्या हस्ते करण्यात आले या बँकेचे 20 हजार कोटींचे भांडवल असणार आहे.
• या बँकेतून लघु उद्योजकांना 10 लाख रुपयांपर्यंतचा पतपुरवठा होऊ शकेल तसेच ही बँक लघु वित्तपुरवठा संस्थांवर देखरेखीचेही काम करेल.
• लघु वित्तपुरवठा संस्थांसाठी धोरण ठरवणे, त्यांची नोंदणी प्रमाणीकरण करणे तसेच मानांकन करणे ही या बँकेची प्रमुख कामे असतील.
• देशात सुमारे 5.77 कोटी लघु उद्योजक आहेत. त्यांच्या नियमनाची जबाबदारी मुद्रा बँकेवर असेल. या बँकेच्या माध्यमातून त्यांचे जीवनमान उंचावणे आणि विकासाला गती देणे हे उद्दिष्ट आहे.
