• अमेरिकेचे श्रेष्ठ गणितज्ज्ञ जॉन नॅश आणि कॅनडाचे लुईस निरेनबर्ग यांना यंदाचा आबेल पुरस्कार जाहीर झालाय.
• महान गणिती नील्स हेन्रिक आबेल यांच्या स्मरणार्थ हा पुरस्कार देण्यात येतो.
• महान गणिती नील्स हेन्रिक आबेल (1802-1829) यांच्या स्मरणार्थ त्यांनी 2003 पासून आबेल पारितोषिक प्रदान करायला सुरवात केली आहे.
• आबेल पुरस्काराचा दर्जाही ‘नोबेल’ इतकाच उच्च आहे.

राज्यसभेची 118 विरुद्ध शून्य बहुमताने विधेयकास ऐतिहासिक मान्यता :

• “भारत-बांगलादेश जमीन सीमा करार-2013” हे घटनादुरुस्ती विधेयक 181 विरुद्ध शून्य अशा संपूर्ण बहुमताने मंजूर केले.
• लोकसभेत नियोजनानुसार हे घटनादुरुस्ती विधेयक मंजूर झाल्यावर राज्यांकडे जाईल. 50 टक्के राज्य सरकारांच्या मंजुरीनंतर अस्तित्वात येणाऱ्या या कायद्यानुसार दोन्ही देशांनी आपापल्या ताब्यातील सुमारे 161 भाग परस्परांना सोपविण्याचा मार्ग मोकळा होणार आहे.
• यानुसार भारताच्या सुमारे 266 एकर, तर बांगलादेशाच्या 472 एकर अशा एकूण 738 एकर जमिनीचे परस्परांना हस्तांतर होणार आहे.
• दोन वर्षांपूर्वी (2013) मध्ये हे विधेयक सर्वप्रथम मांडण्यात आले होते.

सुख-समाधान निर्देशांकानुसार भारताचा 117 क्रमांक :

• संयुक्त राष्ट्रांनी जागतिक सुख-समाधान निर्देशांकानुसार देशांची क्रमवारी जाहीर केली असून त्यात 157 देशात भारताचा क्रमांक 117 वा लागला आहे.
• जागतिक सुख-समाधान निर्देशांकात देशाचे एकूण राष्ट्रीय उत्पन्न, आयु:मर्यादा, सामाजिक आधार व जीवनातील पर्यायांच्या निवडीतील स्वातंत्र्य या निकषांचा विचार केला जातो. स्वित्झलंडने सुखी-समाधानी देशात जगात पहिला क्रमांक पटकावला आहे.
• सस्टेनेबल डेव्हलपमेंट सोल्यूशन्स नेटवर्क म्हणजे ‘एसडीएसएन’ या संयुक्त राष्ट्रांच्या संस्थेच्या वतीने हा अहवाल दरवर्षी जाहीर केला जातो.
• सुखी-समाधानी देशांच्या यादीत आइसलँड, डेन्मार्क, नॉर्वे व कॅनडा यांचा पहिल्या पाचात समावेश आहे. भारत 117 वा असून पाकिस्तान 81 वा आहे. पॅलेस्टाइन (108), बांगलादेश (109), युक्रेन (111) इराक (112) या प्रमाणे इतर देशांची क्रमवारी आहे.

ओडिशात ‘निरामय’ योजना सुरू :

• ओडिशाचे मुख्यमंत्री नवीन पटनाईक यांनी ‘निरामय’ योजना सुरू केली, या योजनेअंतर्गत सरकारी रुग्णालयात 570 प्रकारची औषधे मोफत देण्यात येणार आहेत.
• या योजनेतून तीन सरकारी रुग्णालयांना औषधे पुरविली जाणार आहे. यामध्ये सरकारी रुग्णालयांबरोबरच वैद्यकीय महाविद्यालये आणि रुग्णालयांचाही समावेश आहे.
• 30 जिल्हा रुग्णालये आणि भुवनेश्वर आणि रूरकेला येथील सरकारी रुग्णालयांचाही समावेश आहे.
• राज्य सरकारने या योजनेसाठी सुमारे 200 कोटी रुपयांचे अनुदान देण्याचा निर्णय घेतला. मोफत देण्यात येणाऱ्या औषधांमध्ये कर्करोग आणि हृदय विकारावरील औषधांचाही समावेश आहे.
